Flying into Tri-County

The information provided on this page was accurate at the time of this posting, but is subject to change, including updates provided via "Notice to Airmen".  Use at your own risk.

This page updated October 24, 2022

Airport Identifier: KBCR

Advisory Frequency:122.725

Runway 01-19 is 5398' x 75' and bisects the property generally north and south.  Fuel, the terminal, tie-downs, a shade hangar and box hangars are on the west side of the runway.  There is one main taxiway with runs parallel to the runway.

There is occasional wildlife on runways and taxiways; we have a migratory bird "issue" on the field, including an active rookery that we are in the process of removing, but please be watchful, and report any bird strikes; birds are generally more active at the north end of the runway.  There are retention ponds adjacent to the runway and central taxiway.  Pilots are required to provide their own up to date pre-flight briefings, (which are more current than this website) and may include airport closures or other NOTAMs.

We also suggest you review and note important frequencies and phone numbers, including our automated weather and Cairins ("Karens") approach/departure.   We also welcome phone calls and will try to answer your questions.

The Tri-County Airport is located in the central time zone.

Cities We Regularly Serve:

The airport serves northwest Florida and southeast Alabama, and is approximately 6 miles northeast of Bonifay, Florida, 6 miles northwest of Chipley, Florida and 11 miles south of Graceville, Florida.  We are a feeder airport for Panama City, Panama City Beach and Destin, Florida.  There are tie-downs and shade hangar spaces generally available for transient aircraft.

Skydiving & Military Operations:

Expect skydiving operations primarily during daylight hours (in good weather) during Saturdays and Sundays.  Be vigilant for "jumpers away" calls our advisory frequency as well as watching for errant skydivers potentially on taxiways and runways.

Due to our close proximity to US Army, Air Force and Navy bases, military flight training occurs regularly in our vicinity and on our field, and pilots should expect military traffic (helicopters and fixed wing) using the field for practice at all hours.  Most military traffic is speaking with Cairns ("Karens") Approach at 133.75, rather than using our Common Traffic Advisory Frequency.  We suggest you monitor both.

Fuel Services

The airport offers self-serve 100 LL and Jet A fuel which is priced competitively If you desire fuel assistance during your visit, please call ahead at (850) 703-6808 and let us know, especially if you need a quick turn.  We accept major credit cards. Although we do have fuel trucks, they are intended to be used only sparingly because there is no ground crew dedicated to manning the vehicles. If you must be fueled via a fuel truck, you will have to call in your request and you may have to wait up to half an hour before the airport manager can get to the airport.

Rental Cars:

We do not have any courtesy or crew cars. There is no car rental agency close to the airport that is willing to provide service to our airport. We do apolotize for this inconvenience.

On-Site Facilities

We have a terminal building (always open) that includes:

  • WIFI connectivity

  • A public lounge with couches, water, complementary soft drinks and a small conference table

  • A conference room with large conference table and large-screen television to be used for meetings

  • A break room with tables and snacks

  • Two restrooms (with showers)

  • An airport office (manned Monday through Friday during normal business hours).

Enclosed, T-Hangars, Shade Hangars & Tie-Downs

Hangar leases (both enclosed and shade hangars) are available up to King Air/Citation size as well as short-term or long-term tie-down spaces. Tie-down spaces are available on short-term and long-term use.  We offer a fuel discount from our already competitive fuel prices to on-site tenants which is automatically deducted by the credit card machine or deducted from full-service fuel purchases.  Transient aircraft pay no fee for tie-downs for their first seven days after a fuel purchase.

Maintenance & Flight Instruction

There are no major maintenance shops on the field, although there is limited maintenance available.  We have flight instruction available.  Contact the airport manager for more details, including points of contact.

Instrument Approaches

Two precision instrument approaches are available: RNAV (GPS) runway 19 and runway 01.
